From this course, I have a lot of knowledges and information on politics in some developing countries. Other than theories, I have identify the real meaning of some concepts from this course. For example, globalization. Globalization refers to interdependency of countries to make a product, machine or transportation. In this case, we take an example of an aeroplane. The wings of the aeroplane was made in India. The tail of the plane was made in China and the body of the plane was built in United States of America and France. Then, the plane will joint together and made in United Kingdom. Then, the plane will sell in Japan and this is called globalization, interdependency of states or nations. One of the theory that I can explain is Dependency Theory. This theory stated that explain why economic growth in the advanced industralized countries and not necessarily lead to growth in the poorer countries. Poorer countries also refers to developing countries which is more on southern hemisphere, such as Africa countries. Rich countries refers to developed countries such as United States, China, Japan and others. This theory also emphasize of poverty in developing countries, because of integrated with the world systems and also the ways of integrated. Since the first wave of modernization, developing countries are changed or transform by their connections with other nations through their contacts, economics and political ideology. Developments of rich countries and underdevelopment of developing countries is part of historical process too. The causes of underdevelopment of developing countries is due to dependency of industrialized countries. Moreover, we had the best lecturer for this course. Her delivery was very good in lecturing this course. Plus, she will give some examples for the certain topics to make her students more understand. She was elected me as an AJK Security (AJK Keselamatan) for the Community Project at Selepong Berangan Long House.
I had a great experience at there. As an AJK security, I had a big responsibility to care all the students who attend to the community work. I have visited that place when we done a recce there. I found that, there is a construction of a house, happen in front of the long house. Moreover, I found that, there are so many unused nails on the floor of the construction. Other than construction, I found a death scorpion near the long house. Then, I told to my lecturer about this. Plus, my responsibility should be double up. Moreover, there are some stray dogs in that area. I have to drive the dogs away from the surroundings of the long house.
As an AJK Security, I have faced some challenges since we were at Kampong Selepong Long house, Sri Aman. One of the challenges is the noisiness that made by the students. Some students had make the noise while doing their group’s activity. This will make uncomfortable for the residents who staying at long house. The second challenge that I faced was, some students were wearing short pants while staying in the long house. This is showing an improper way as a student. It is also become disrespectful towards the residents at the long house. As a results, these are the steps I have done at the long house. First of all, I have to reprimand some students who the noises. At the same time, I told the consequences that will happen, which is, will make uncomfortable to the residents who were staying at the long house. Secondly, I have also told some students who improper outfit because it is not showing our identity as a student. Other than that, I have to patrol in several hours so that, students won’t hang around. Next, I have to watch and observe some students with their attitudes. Finally, I have helped some students who had wounded while they were working. With my first aid kit, I have managed to help them by using the medicines.
We had so much fun from this community work.
