Nation Building

Nation building is a major issue on many countries ' political agenda, a project that has become more arduous in countries that are fragmented along racial, linguistic and religious lines. I will examines the trajectory of nation-building in Malaysia in an attempt to gain some understanding of the issue. Essentially, in a multi-ethnic society, the Malaysian government uses the nation-state template to create a sense of collective national identity. It's a top-down strategy with a dominant role for the government. Popular groups, based on race or religion, are the main political parties. Well-designed nation-building projects have not been properly implemented. While the state has accomplished remarkable economic development, it is becoming more authoritarian at the same time and the country is facing a number of troubling social and political issues. With a rising educated middle class, urbanization, demographic change, globalization, and Internet expansion, mass-based political movements and a multi-ethnic alliance of opposition parties have arisen with the ability to remedy the situation. The study suggests a framework to understand the national-building project's path and complexities in Malaysia. The system provides a list of historical factors that in the coming years are expected to form the path of nation building.
